They seem to just vanish into thin air as this is how it's reported to the forest park rangers there. Even the rangers don't see this when it happens, because even the rangers are being watched too, and their routes are know by those that need to know.

It's very easy to cover alot of terrain by horseback, and any reptilians that are around will stay at a good distance from the nose of a horse. So the trees, and the boulders, and the bushes, and the treeline, and the streams that run though any parks make it hard for people to get around on foot, but a reptilian is huge just like Bigfoot, and can travel at get speeds when needed , and they are very strong, and resiliant to getting cut, and scraped up.
