There have been times when this privilege was briefly suspended, namely during -- due to one of the Goblin Rebellions -- and again for the years through , preceding and during the Battle of Hogwarts.
Interestingly, it is also unknown if this or Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was named first, though most believe it is the former. However, magical folk still need to be wary of using their magic in the open so as to not startle any Muggle residents.
